MSD DIS-2 [2-step function]

Just got the 2-step all wired in this weekend and for some reason my car is leaning out like crazy while it is bouncing off the rev limiter (4000rpm). It was to my understanding that the MSD box is suppose to stagger the ignition pulses which I would think make the car run more rich. There are no retard function specifically for the 2-step on the box, so I cannot retard the timing that way. If I retard the timing VIA the Autronic, then I will have a huge
