Whats the best way to do a running ledger, and or pully rig ?

Righto folks, been lure fishing all season to now. Going to try deadbaiting and am looking for advice on the bite indication for a running ledger rig. I assume as my reel has a 'baitrunner' function, i can use this as the detection method, i.e.

Friday and it was pouring with rain, I didn't fancy digging worm in it, or sitting Bassing at my usual spot as its an exposed beach. So after collecting Mackerel, squid and sandeel from Barneys at Cowes I was setup on the beach at Cowes by 7.00pm. One
